Escape from Darkness
Experimental Typography
Objective
I often feel some gloomy darkness in my heart, but this journal is a record of how I cope with it.
Approach
The main source of research material is my own environment or habitat. I mentally and physically recorded things that I saw, heard, touched, and smelled as I went about my daily routines. These recordings then fueled my writing and designing a 32-page book—similar to a journal but with more depth. The look and feel reflected a central theme or concept that I developed on my daily observations. It has many subtexts and side subjects, but there is a solid overarching concept that I convey to the reader.
“Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before. ”
Edgar Allan Poe, Poet
